Liverpool are keen to hold onto their manager Jürgen Klopp, despite rumoured interest from Juventus.
The German’s name is one of many that have been linked with the Italian giants ever since they parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri.
Reds Chairman Tom Werner believes Klopp is committed to the club however and is keen to extend the manager’s contract.
“We don’t really want to discuss his situation publicly, especially so close to the final,” he said.
“But I think you know that we think the world of him. We have already extended his contract once.
“All I can say is that it’s obviously important that he stays for as long as he likes. We believe that he’s committed to Liverpool.”
It is no shock that Liverpool would want to retain Klopp after what he has achieved at the club. A record number of points for a second-placed team in the Premier League – albeit frustrating – is an incredible accomplishment, while reaching consecutive Champions League finals is just as astonishing.
The German manager has shut down the links between himself and Juventus, saying he intends on remaining at Anfield.
“Of course it’s a league that I like, it’s really exciting, but all these rumours I hear about Juventus are bull****,” Klopp said.
“There is nothing true about it. I am not going to leave Liverpool.
“I know Serie A very well, I follow it and I like it but I am going to stay at Liverpool.”
Klopp last signed a contract extension in 2016 – a six-year deal taking him to 2022.
He will aim to win his first Champions League final on Saturday after failing on two previous attempts.
