After the club bore the brunt of significant criticism during the week, the players responded in the best possible way scoring three second half goals worthy of a thousand replays.
It didn’t take long for the home side to find the lead after Florin Berenguer combined with Rostyn Griffiths in the 27th minute and despite brief video assistant intervention the goal stood.
New signing Shayon Harrison looked lively and forced a save of the season contender from Brisbane’s Jamie Young – with the Spurs youth product looking more comfortable alongside the returning Jamie Maclaren.

On the back foot – it was only going to be some generosity from the home side which was going to let Brisbane back in the match. An own goal from City defender Harrison Delbridge in the 54th minute levelled the scores but this did not seem to faze the home side – who found themselves in front minutes later through Harrison.
The 19-year-old again showcasing his skills and scoring his first goal in front of the home supporters from an acute angle to give his side a much-deserved lead.
But goals only got better from here as Ritchie de Laet found the top corner from 30 yards out to put the result beyond doubt in the 70th minute, before Riley McGree added more icing with a well-placed lob over Young from a tight angle inside the 18-yard box.
The result sees City move temporarily to fifth on the table and provides them with some much-needed breathing room inside the top six.
City face an arduous task in Adelaide United next Saturday at AAMI Park while Brisbane host the Wellington Phoenix.
