It might be only a friendly, but Matildas defender Laura Alleway says the USA will be seeking revenge when they face Australia in Colorado next week.
“I love playing against America, it’s a massive rivalry and when you’re No. 1 you’re the team to beat,” said the Melbourne Victory centre back.
“The last time we got the win on them, so I think they’ll be out for revenge.”

The U.S Women’s National team is stacked with talent, and Alleway says the experience will be invaluable.
“It’s massive, it will be another challenge. It’s going to be the type of team we’ll have to beat at the World Cup.”
Alleway also spoke about what the team can take from their recent Cup of Nations win.
“We made massive strides in terms of our positivity and on the ball performances.
“We just want to grow from there, keep on aiming higher to possess the ball and get as many passes as we can each match.”
On a personal note, Alleway recently got engaged to her American boyfriend. She reassures us, however, that his football allegiances are in the right place.
“He’s American but he’s going for us so it’s fine!”
More of the Matildas will continue to arrive in camp over the coming days.
