PFA CEO John Didulica believes the new FFA Congress need to ensure the game runs as “efficiently as possible”, preventing any wastage.

Speaking on Evenings on FNR, Didulica explained that one of the new congress’ strengths will be promoting collaboration between football’s many stakeholders.

“The state federations who run the state programs and elite development pathways need to work closely with the A-League clubs that are providing professional pathways,” Didulica said.

Additionally he added the A-League clubs should work with those aspiring for a place in a potential second division, to ensure all stakeholders are “sharing the best practice.”

“The closer the professional game is working with the ‘amateur’ game, the better the sport will
be.”

While Didulica believes such collaboration will see the game succeed, football stakeholders must also pressure governments for more funding to support the game’s growth.

“A big challenge is the underfunding from Sport Australia,” Didulica added.

The PFA will occupy seven votes in the new congress, after being granted entry for the first time in their 25-year history.

The congress will expand from 10 seats to 29, introducing stakeholders such as the PFA and a new Women’s Council that will occupy 10 votes, something that should see the game grow significantly.
