Football Federation Australia has announced the A-League and W-League will continue behind closed doors, with the Wellington Phoenix re-located to Sydney.

Matches involving Wellington and Melbourne Victory – who will also be isolated for 14 days upon arrival from New Zealand – over the next two rounds (24 and 25) will be postponed, with the FFA currently working towards finding accommodation and venues for the Phoenix.

In addition, FFA intends to play the remaining 30 matches over a three-week period and continue to abide by the health recommendations provided at the time.

“All games will be played behind closed doors. At this point that is a better solution than to suspend the league and work out what will happen with the matches to come,” O’Rouke said.

“If we were in theory to play midweek games, we could knock over four rounds in two weeks.”

The FFA was not willing to comment on any protocols should any player or official be diagnosed with the virus.

‘’These are hypothetical scenarios and we will follow the rules imposed by the government,’’ FFA CEO James Johnson said.

‘’Hypothetically if this does happen the league will have to react but we shouldn’t focus on these scenarios.’’

The W-League Grand Final between Melbourne City and Sydney FC will also be played behind closed doors this weekend, with a venue yet to be decided.
