Speculation and expectation are two words Marco Rojas has heard his entire career
Seven years ago, a fresh faced Rojas tore up defences, as the young 21 year old captured the ultimate individual prize in Australian football, The Johnny Warren Medal, in the 2012-13 season.
With a legendary season in the history books, Marco Rojas travelled to Germany to join VFB Stuggart, a prior home for Robbie Kruse and Mitch Langerak.
But Rojas was unable to reach the pinnacle of European football as loans to German second division club Greuther Fürth (2014) and Swiss giants FC Thun (2015-2019) followed.
Unable to recapture the form experienced in Melbourne in Europe, Rojas returned to the Victory in 2016 and re-discovered his finishing touch, scoring 13 goal, which led to a return to Europe with Eredivise club SC Heerenveen followed by a spell at Danish club SönderjyskE.
On January the 1st 2020, Rojas left SönderjyskE to become a free agent, a familiar state for the once deadly youngster.
Speculation began early this week with reports, Melbourne City’s fashion icon (and coach) Erick Mombaerts was interested in signing the Kiwi winger, but Rojas has rejected the offer according to The Herald Sun’s David Davutovic.
Potential moves to Western United and Melbourne Victory have also been thrown up, as well as a return to his native New Zealand with the Wellington Phoenix.
In the meantime Rojas remains in Melbourne taking in the bipolar weather of the city, plotting his next move.
