United will face Melbourne City in the final in Adelaide, with the hosting rights determined by a draw at the conclusion of last night’s match.

Melbourne City defeated Brisbane Strikers 5-1 on Tuesday night, also coming back from a 1-0 deficit. The 2016 FFA Cup winners fired 30 shots on goal, including 14 on target, which highlighted their attacking firepower.

Nevertheless, City will have a harder task when they play Adelaide in the final, who have had a strong pre-season and look to be one of the contenders for the A-League Championship this season.

The final will be City’s second – their one and only appearance came in 2016, when they defeated Sydney FC 1-0.

On the other hand, this will be Adelaide’s fourth – they won in 2014 and 2018 and lost in 2017.

Melbourne City will host Adelaide United in their second A-League match of the season on 20 October, with the final taking place only a couple of days later.

This encounter would act as a dress rehearsal for the final, which is expected to be entertaining on the field in front of an electric atmosphere.
