A dominant Geelong contingent returned from the Victorian Junior Country Soccer Championships in Albury-Wodonga last weekend, with all 11 junior representative teams finishing in third place or higher.
According to one of the two squad managers of the Geelong representative team, GOFC Co-Director Pete Bradley, each year the local Geelong representation gets bigger and bigger.
“It was not just the results of all the teams involved that made it so memorable, but the whole weekend overall was a huge success,” said Bradley, talking on Tuesday night’s bumper episode of the Geelong Region Soccer Show on FNR Football Nation Radio.
“We had a total of 164 kids travel up to Albury with their families to compete at this year’s event, it just gets bigger and better each year,” he added.
The successful collective performance at this year’s tournament was highlighted by the U11 and U16s Girls’ teams who both returned home with the title of champions, as did the U14 and U16 Boys’ teams.
