The transfer window is officially open and big moves are expected to take place this summer. Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona will certainly strengthen, while Liverpool will want to add to their squad to help defend their Champions League crown. We looked at some of the biggest potential moves.
Eden Hazard to Real Madrid
Probably the most likely to occur out of the bunch, Hazard will almost certainly join Real Madrid for next season. The Belgian has spent the last eight seasons at Chelsea but is keen to fulfil his childhood ‘dream’. Real Madrid President Florentino Perez admitted that they almost signed Hazard last year but are super confident of securing his services for the 2019/20 season.
Paul Pogba to Juventus
A return to the club he played for between 2012 and 2016 is very much on the cards. Juventus have reportedly begun talks with Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola and Manchester United to bring the Frenchman back to Turin. Desperately in need for more midfield quality, Juventus can seriously challenge for the Champions League again if they sign Pogba for a second time.
Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona
Antoine Griezmann has confirmed that he will be leaving Atlético Madrid this summer, but his next destination is still unknown. Barcelona are the most likely suitor given how close they were to signing him last season before the Frenchman extended his Atléti contract. Griezmann has a release clause of €120 million which Barça would likely be willing to pay, however it has been rumoured that he is not the most popular man amongst the Barcelona dressing room, with Lionel Messi reportedly against the signing.
Neymar to Barcelona
The Brazilian left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain two seasons ago but has been linked with a return to the club. Lionel Messi is reportedly in favour of his return, however PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has issued a ‘hands off’ to the Spanish giants. Neymar has had two metatarsal injuries in consecutive years which may decrease his market value and see him fall back into the Blaugrana colours.
Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich
Manchester City have already rejected an €80 million bid from Bayern for the star winger, however the German giants are thinking about upping their offer. Sane has often fallen out of favour in the big games to fellow wingers Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling which could see him exit Pep Guardiola’s squad. Bayern are not usually ones to spend big on transfers so this one seems a little less likely, however do not rule out a move for the 23-year-old.
