
Detained footballer Hakeem Al-Araibi is reportedly set to return to Australia after a Thai court has ruled the extradition case against him had been dropped.
The director-general of international affairs for the Thai Government confirmed the case had been dropped by Bahrain and the Melbourne based refugee is set to return to Australia tonight.
Mr Al-Araibi was detained for more than two months in Thailand for alleged crimes in his home nation Bahrain to which the 25-year-old denies.
Mr Al-Araibi was sentenced to ten years prison in Bahrain before finding refuge in Australia.
The Pascoe Vale player will return to his club ahead of the new season.
