Tottenham’s Champions League future is on the line when they host Inter on Thursday.
Spurs have been in stellar form in the Premier League and sit third on the table, but have found life difficult in the Champions League.
In arguably the toughest group in the UCL, Tottenham sit third in the group behind Barcelona and Inter.
Three points separate Inter and Tottenham, which makes the clash at Wembley Stadium all the more crucial.
Tottenham will head into the game full of confidence after defeating Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League on the weekend.
The victory marked Chelsea’s first defeat under Maurizio Sarri and moved Spurs above their London rivals on the table.
After a slow start to the campaign Tottenham are finally starting to find their form, which is largely due to the return of Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min.
The game against Chelsea was the first time Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Son and Eriksen started a Premier League game together this season.
Kane, Alli and Son found the back of the net, while Eriksen recorded two assists.
The quartet must play at the same level if Tottenham are to beat Inter and keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Inter claimed a 2-1 victory over Spurs on matchday one, courtesy of two late goals from Mauro Icardi and Matias Vecino.
Eriksen found the net in the game, while Kane and Son both started.
The inclusion of Alli could be pivotal in Tottenham reversing the result. The attacking midfielder made headlines last season when he scored twice against Real Madrid to give Tottenham a memorable 3-1 victory.
Alli provides a spark to the Spurs lineup and his inclusion also improves the performances of Kane.
1966 World Cup winner Geoff Hurst labelled the understanding between Kane and Alli “telepathic” and compared their chemistry to Real Madrid legends Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas.
While Kane and Alli may receive all the plaudits, Son Heung-min is the unheralded star.
Son scored 17 goals in all competitions last season, which was the second most by any Tottenham player behind Harry Kane.
The South Korean had a late start to his season due to his involvement in the Asian Games.
However, since his return to the team in mid September, Tottenham have won nine of their 13 matches in all competitions.
Son’s strength is his ability to create space for his teammates. He also has the ability to cross the ball from out wide or cut in from the wing to create his own chances.
Tottenham have worked hard in recent years to attain the recognition on the world football stage.
If they are to continue their resurgence in European football, they will need to defeat Inter to keep their chances of progressing through to the knockout stages of the Champions League alive.
