In the wake of the controversial sacking of Matildas coach Alen Stajcic, Football Federation Australia have today announced an independent review into the processes by which the national teams are managed, and the way in which information reported to the FFA Board.
“The decision of the Board to replace Alen Stajcic as the Matildas coach is not under review or subject to review,” FFA Chairman Chris Nikou said via press release.
“However, the process raised questions for the Board on the manner in which conduct, performance and information are addressed by FFA as an organisation.”
A three-person independent panel will undertake interviews with relevant FFA senior management and national team staff, as well as a review of documentation, information and correspondence.
The panel will be chaired by professional Non-Executive Director and former Basketball Australia Chair Diane Smith-Gander, who recently served on the Hayne Royal Commission Review into APRA’s capability.
The other panel members are former Australians Diamonds netball team captain and qualified solicitor Liz Ellis, and SCG Trust Deputy Chairman Rod McGeoch.
The panel will provide findings and recommendations to the FFA Board by the end of October 2019.
