Happy transfer deadline day, for English clubs at least! There are only a matter of hours remaining for clubs in the English football to bolster their squad before the beginning of the Premier League season.
As is custom with any transfer window the big teams insist on leaving their business until the last minute and this transfer deadline day is shaping up to be exciting as ever with a host of potential deals yet to be finalised.
Paulo Dybala to Tottenham Hotspur
Juventus’ Argentinian playmaker Dybala has struggled to stamp his authority on the side since Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival and it appears new manager Maurizio Sarri is happy to cash in on the 25-year-old.
BBC Sport are reporting that the Lilywhites are close to an agreement with Juve for the transfer of Dybala who reportedly turned down Manchester United during the week.
Perhaps drawn to playing Champions League football at Spurs, a fee in excess of Tanguy Ndombele’s club record £62 million is believed to be able to see Dybala playing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season in a busy deadline day for the Londoners.
Daniel Levy seems set to open up the chequebook to the relief of Spurs fans with a £25 million deal believed to be in place to sign English youngster Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham, with Josh Onomah going the other way.
Giovanni Lo Celso is also still heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, although his move is now being reported as an initial loan with an obligation to purchase the Argentinian from Real Betis next season.
David Luiz to Arsenal
In a rather bizarre move on deadline day, David Luiz is set to become the latest player to switch between Chelsea and Arsenal.
An £8 million deal is being reported by BBC Sport as the Gunners appear to finally have found their centre-back option to bolster what was a feeble defence last season.
What this move means for Chelsea is another question with Frank Lampard unable to sign new players and left rather shorthanded at centre defence.
Sky Sports have added to this, saying that the Brazilian will be joined at the Emirates Stadium by Kieran Tierney in what would be a Scottish record £25 million deal from Celtic.
The 22-year-old has been a long term target for Arsenal and would complete their defensive overhaul with Luiz, providing flexibility and the opportunity to transition from a back four to a back three, freeing Nacho Monreal or Sead Kolasinac to operate as a centre-back as Arsene Wenger experimented with two seasons ago.
Wilfried Zaha to Everton
After 12 months of intense transfer speculation, Wilfried Zaha looks set to get a move away from Crystal Palace after Sky Sports reported he handed in a transfer request yesterday.
The Ivorian international signed a contract extension at the beginning of last season despite strong rumours linking him to Tottenham, but on this occasion it seems he will arrive at Goodison Park to further increase Everton’s host of attacking talent.
Palace had initially slapped an £80 million price tag on Zaha rejecting a first bid for the Toffees but may be forced to succumb to the wishes of the 26-year-old as Sky sources say the winger has become “disillusioned” with the situation.
With Moise Kean already brought in, the prospect of a front four of the Italian, Zaha, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson is a very tantalising one for Evertonians as Marco Silva looks to push his side towards European football.
Aaron Mooy to Brighton
The Brighton Argus initially reported that the Seagulls could be in for Huddersfield’s Australian maestro Aaron Mooy and rumours have now intensified.
Reporting for Sky Sports News, Jess Creighton said that Mooy is eager to return to the Premier League, and a loan agreement between the two clubs could be completed by the end of the window.
Mooy played the full 90 minutes and was instrumental in Huddersfield’s opening day defeat to Derby County in the Championship and had been widely tipped for a Premier League stay after the Terriers’ relegation.
It now seems that the Socceroo will have his chance to remain in the top flight as he looks to avoid Brighton suffering the same fate as his Huddersfield team did last season.
Dennis Praet to Leicester City
Brendan Rodgers could be about to add another transfer to his already fantastic window with Leicester as Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet is believed to be on his way to the King Power Stadium.
Rob Dorsett said on Sky Sports News outside Leicester’s training ground that the Foxes have fended off interest from AC Milan and Valencia to prize the 25-year-old Belgian away from Italy.
A fee of £18 million pounds is reportedly what the club must part with to land Praet, a player who Sampdoria coach Eusebio Di Francesco admitted he will miss and claimed is “one of the best midfielders in Italy.”
This move would follow deals for Praet’s countryman Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez earlier in the window, but Leicester have reportedly been priced out of a deal to sign James Tarkowski, with Burnley rating him at £50 million pounds as the Foxes look to replace Harry Maguire at centre-back.
