Ex-Macarthur FC Chairman Rabieh Krayem says the club is not in turmoil despite significant changes made at board level.
Mr Krayem was the latest founding board member to depart the club, joining football director Ken Stead and Archie Fraser – the club’s inaugural CEO, who left in August – with Gino Marra promoted as the club’s new chair.
The exodus come days after Lang Walker gave up his 50 per cent ownership in the club – with Mr Walker remaining as a major sponsor for the club – selling his stake to two local businessmen.
Mr Krayem told FNR he believes the club’s ethos based around strong community values will remain.
“From my point the foundation has been laid for the last 15 months for the club to go forward so I don’t think the vision will change,’’ he said.
‘’The beauty about this is it’s not a full ownership change it’s only half. Gino [Marra] was the deputy chair and obviously Sam [Krslovic] he was chairing the football community so that gives you continuity. I don’t believe the vision or the mission or the structure of the club can strange because that is embedded into the DNA of the club.
‘’People who read anything else into that is going down the wrong path, it’s just simply a change of ownership that resulted in a change of board that’s a normal process in an organisation.’’
‘’It’s now in the hands of a new board and new owners but its only 50 per cent new and 50 per cent have been there since day one. You don’t need to change much but improve on what’s there like anyone we all want to see better things.’’
Macarthur FC will enter the A-League in season 2020/21 with Ante Milicic named as head coach in its inaugural season.
