Manchester United have signed Leicester City centre back Harry Maguire for £80 million – breaking the world record for a defender.

The England international has signed a 6-year contract with the Red Devils, with an option for a further year.

Is Maguire overpriced? Or is he the man to propel United back to the big time?

German giants Bayern Munich are pondering a deal for Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale, after the winger’s move to China fell through, with the transfer fee the sticking point.

Bale has three years left on his contract at the Bernabeu, but his astronomical wages have been difficult for Madrid to shift off Madrid’s books.

Is the 30-year-old Welshman past his best – or could he be the perfect replacement for Arjen Robben?

Barcelona have officially ruled out a move to bring back Neymar from PSG.

As vice-president Jordi Cardoner told Spanish station TV3:

“We haven’t spoken to them. There is a lot of respect between the clubs and if there is a Neymar case one day, we’ll talk.

“Today, at this time, it’s ruled out.”

The unsettled Brazilian will need to find another club if he’s so desperate to get out of Paris.

And finally, DC United star Wayne Rooney could be set for a surprise return to English football!

The Telegraph are reporting the former England and Manchester United captain is in discussions to become a player-coach at Derby County.

Derby hired ex-Barcelona midfielder Phillip Cocu as interim as coach last month after the departure of Frank Lampard to Chelsea, and Rooney could be set to work as the Dutchman’s assistant.

Rooney has made no secret of his desire to coach when he finally hangs up his boots.

Back in June, he revealed he was in the process of doing his coaching badges, and that he had already received offers to coach from multiple English and American clubs.

Lampard has already used Derby as a stepping-stone to his dream job. Could Rooney be on the same path?

Everton and United fans will surely be watching his progress with interest.
