The Juventus managerial position is currently one of the hottest jobs up for grabs in world football. The club parted ways with six-time Scudetti winner Massimiliano Allegri this month, hoping to appoint someone who will lead the Bianconeri to their first Champions League crown in 24 years. We looked at the names that have been linked with the Old Lady.
Maurizio Sarri
Sarri is reportedly one of the favourites to take over at Allianz Stadium. The Italian joined Chelsea at the beginning of last season and with limited preparation time, led the club to their best ever start to a Premier League season and a third-place finish. He already has Serie A experience, managing Napoli for three seasons where his side broke the record for the most accumulated points by a second-placed side. Sarri joining Juve would add yet another spice in the rivalry between Juventus and Napoli.
Pep Guardiola
The back-to-back Premier League winning coach has been heavily linked with Juventus in the last few days, with some reports even stating that he has signed a four-year deal with the club. City’s potential European ban makes things interesting. Would Pep bail on his City project if there was no Champions League football? No, according to City board member Alberto Galassi, who was “surprised to read such nonsense”. Time will tell if the Spaniard makes yet another move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Mauricio Pochettino
Another big name from the Premier League linked with a move to Juventus. His heroics in taking Tottenham to their first ever Champions League final after not spending a cent in the transfer window would have certainly caught the eye of Agnelli and co. Pochettino did say that if Spurs are victorious in the final, it might be time to “do something different in the future”. Watch this space.
Simone Inzaghi
A manager who has achieved at Lazio with far less resources than the bigger clubs, winning the 2019 Coppa Italia and missing out on Champions League football last season via a poorer head-to-head record with Inter. If given a bigger budget, Inzaghi could be the man to lead Juve to success in Europe for the first time since 1996.
Antonio Conte
A return to the club he managed between 2011 and 2014 is potentially on the cards, but this one seems a little more unlikely. Conte has been strongly linked with a move to Juve’s biggest rivals, Inter Milan, and is likely to take over Luciano Spaletti at the San Siro. It would set up a mouth-watering Derby D’Italia next season.
