Manchester City temporarily moved to the top of the table after a hard-fought victory over Bournemouth on the south coast.

Riyad Mahrez was the hero for the visitors, striking early in the second half.

At Old Trafford, there was spectacular goals throughout the 90 minutes as Manchester United secured a 3-2 victory over Southampton in an entertaining contest.

Yann Valery gave the visitors a shock lead with a stunning driven effort from range, before Andreas Pereira curled United level in the second half.

A stunning James Ward-Prowse free-kick, either side of Romelu Lukaku’s brace in a matter of days rounded out the results.

Leeds United sent a message to the rest of their Championship rivals on Saturday morning AEDT as they swept aside West Bromwich Albion in a powerful display.

Patrick Bamford was the man of the moment for the home side, earning himself a double after Pablo Hernandez opened the scoring in the game’s opening minute. Ezgjan Alioski rounded out the result in injury time.

Aston Villa produced arguably their best 45 minutes of the season to confine Derby County to a 4-0 defeat at Villa Park.

The home side scored all four of their goals in the game’s opening 45 minutes through Conor Hourihane brace, Tammy Abraham’s 37th minute strike and Jack Grealish’s tremendous volley on the edge of half-time.

Reading ensured they stayed above the drop zone, with a last-gasp victory over fellow relegation battlers Ipswich Town.

Nelson Oliveira had the visitors ahead in the 19th minute, before Gwion Edwards levelled proceedings with seven minutes remaining.

Modou Barrow turned out to be the hero for Reading, striking on the counter attack in the game’s dying stages.
